Recently, the University of North Carolina denied in-state tuition to a veteran of the Iraq War. They said she did not qualify because she didn't pay state taxes while she was serving in Iraq. She is a former resident of NC, she has owned a home there and paid property tax the whole time and since her honorable discharge she has lived in the state (two years).
Think that's crazy? The University is considering a policy that will allow illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition. That is not just crazy...that is unpatriotic!
